Bay Paso Fino Gelding trail horse is heading to Iowa
Paso Fino for trails, obstacles, or anything else heading north!
After nearly 5 years as part of Rose Hill Ranch family RH Senador, (Ciclon de los Angeles X Promesa de Capuchino) will be leaving the ranch for his new home in Iowa early next week. I know, I know, I'm not supposed to get so attached to my horses, since they are bred and raised to be trained as awesome trail horses for other people and eventually move on. So, it's always sort of a bittersweet feeling when my boys or girls move on to their new homes. Senador, like the rest of our horses started his training at birth with imprint training followed by groundwork training at 30 days so he could learn to lead, bath, and groom at an early age. Then he was handled as much as practical until time to start his formal adult training, which in his case was around 3-1/2 to 4 years old. It takes months of training to get a horse started in the right direction, how long, well it really depends on the horse. With genetics like Senador's he was a quick study in most every area of his training, and while his parents were show horses he took quickly to the pleasures of trail riding and obstacles (he's not bad in the arena either). I could go on about him and his pasture mates, but it will suffice to say we are proud of him and wishing him and his new owners many years of riding pleasure!
