Search and Rescue Horse
Search and Rescue Horse "Rosie"
Search and Rescue horse RH Colorada Rosa. With proper training and preparation even a young horse can achieve the maturity needed to be a great trail riding and search and rescue horse! Our new friends from Illinois have recently purchased one of our Keith Andries trained Rose Hill Ranch Paso Finos RH Colorado Rosa aka Rosie. TESTIMONIAL: I purchased a red chestnut mare named Colorada Rosa from Keith Andries in May 2012. She had just turned 3. We have 3 other paso finos so we are very familiar with the breed. I have to say though that Rosie (her barn name) is the calmest and most sensible of them all. I was looking specifically for a young horse to replace one of my older horses that I use for mounted search and rescue work. A good mind, a calm and inquisitive disposition, and an eagerness to please were a must. I looked at and rode a dozen or so other horses before deciding on Rosie. I was very impressed with her after watching the video Keith posted on Youtube. I emailed Keith to see if she was still available and she was. I had many questions, all of which he patiently answered. It was a big decision to make and I had to make sure that I was most likely going to purchase her because I live in northern Illinois and it is over 1000 miles one way to Keith's. After talking to Keith, watching her video, and viewing pictures he emailed I made the decision to go to Texas. We met Keith at his farm and even though the temperatures where in the close to 100 he took the time to let me test ride her and learn about some of the training methods he used with her. His methods were simple and easy to understand for both horse and rider. Rosie was very responsive to light hand ques and easy to handle. I knew right away that she was what I was looking for and we loaded her up for the long ride home. She ended up being everything he said she was. She is a sweet and willing little horse. She gets along good with the other horses. She is one of the first horses to greet you when you get to the stables. Everyone comments on how friendly and gentle she is. The very first weekend after we picked her up we took her and our other horses on a 4 day camping trip. The other horses, the dogs, our 4 grandchildren, the campfire, the tents, the generator, being tied on a tie line, etc... nothing seem to bother her. She did great and you would have thought she had been doing it all her life. She also took to the trails very well. I was able to ride her in a group as well as out on our own. We rode about 20 miles that trip and she never seemed to get tired. Walk, corto, largo, canter, lead, follow whatever I asked of her she did. Rosie will be the 3rd paso fino I have trained for search and rescue work. I have begun her training and I'm sure she will end up being my best SAR partner yet. One of my friends just purchased a gelding from Keith after I told her how please I was with his training. She too is very happy with her horse. Thanks Keith for the good work you do, I'm sure I will be sending more people your way! Happy Horsen Around To All Susan Wright A very satisfied customer!
